Dear Friend,
Our ongoing Hudson River Valley Collection event has created a tremendous stir among our clientele in the U.S. and Europe. I am elated to announce that this family of connoisseurs has contacted us for a third time, resulting in our purchase of yet another cache of first-rate 19th and turn-of-the-20th century carpets!
Our experience has shown us that a large collection is often divulged in stages, as the sellers become comfortable with releasing their longtime holdings to us. Nevertheless, after already acquiring a vast treasury of art-level rugs from the family of a retired Wall Street financier whose primary residence was in New York’s Hudson River Valley, it was an incredibly welcome surprise to be contacted once again by the gentleman’s sister.
We learned that the pieces we previously bought from her were part of a more considerable group, and that she was now ready to divest herself of the rugs that graced her New York City apartment, along with a goodly supply she had in storage. Highlights include both collectible tribal rugs, most notably a significant group of Caucasians and Afshars, and classical carpets, such as prized Laver Kirmans, Kermanshahs and Hadji Jallili Tabrizs. Mat-size rugs to oversize carpets are represented, including some of the most awe-inspiring pieces in the entire collection!
This addition of over 70 precious pieces marks the culmination of our three-part acquisition of this astonishing trove of antique carpets, each of a level that very seldom comes to market. As Forbes.com reported even before this final installment of rugs, it is “one of the most significant acquisitions of art-level antique rugs from a private source in the past decade.” An extensive article describing the third segment of the Collection appeared in The Wall Street Journal/Market Watch.
I hope you will enjoy perusing a generous sampling of these new additions on the following pages. I trust you will recognize the brilliant creative spark that makes each piece an exceptional work of art.
Very best regards,

Jan David Winitz
Founder and President
